The name comes from the device rokurokubi pendant in the Japanese well, and more specifically from the rope that is used for the extraction of buckets of water. The Japanese were obmurowywane wells and directly over the hole studziennym beam was attached to pulley with a rope, to which both sides were attached buckets. When one of them was drawn up, the other left the way down. In this way the rope on one side of the block time was longer and shorter time. This painting influenced the image of the demon, whose neck shortens and lengthens like a rope in the well. Rokuro name comes from sound, which seemed to block during operation.
Analogy can be traced also in frazeologizmach Japanese language, because when he says that someone is waiting for someone with wytęsknieniem and can not wait much longer, it uses the phrase “wait stretching / lengthening the neck” (KUBI nagaku shite no Matsu). In the literal sense it coincides with the nature of female rokurokubi that longing for her beloved were able to extend the neck for a very long distance, just see it.

The story of a meeting with rokurokubi, how to lose weight fast no kuni no koto rokuro KUBI (O rokurokubi in Fuchu, in the land of Echizen), occurs in a set Shokoku hyaku monogatari. The whole story is happening in the region of Kita, in the land of Echizen.
There was a certain man, who traveled to the capital, and very much did not care to rush approaching dusk. He planned to go through the night, as soon as possible to reach the goal.
